ASSOCIATE MEDICAL DIRECTOR OPPORTUNITY

The Pinellas County EMS Office of the Medical Director is seeking a physician-researcher to join our team as Associate Medical Director for Research. Ideal candidates should be board certified in EMS and have will have experience in performing retrospective and prospective research trials, leading a research team, and submission/management of research grants.

The primary objective of the position is to enhance our system’s research capabilities with a goal of conducting impactful prospective prehospital research in the next 3 years.

About the position:

Generous stipend and benefits package commensurate with 3+ days per week dedicated to the system
Direct support from a biostatistician, anthropologist, and an IRB facilitator
Centralized data and clinical information systems that have been intentionally selected to support research
Responsible to provide research focused mentorship paramedics, medical students, residents, and an EMS Fellow
Clinical practice opportunities are available in both community and academic EDs
Faculty appointment within the Section of EMS (8 other EMS Faculty) is possible at a top medical school
May also have access to statewide databases and resources in collaboration with the Pinellas County EMS Medical Director who also serves as the State EMS Medical Director

  • Annual EMS call volume of 250,000
  • 2000 EMTs and Paramedics
  • 18 ALS First Response fire departments
  • A single countywide ambulance service
  • Active Tactical, HAZMAT, Technical Rescue, USAR, and Critical Care Teams
  • Standardized medical equipment and treatment protocols across the system
  • Unified Medical Direction and On-Line Medical Control
  • Physician response vehicle
